When was Hall County, GA Created?
Hall County was established on December 15, 1818 from Cherokee Cessions of 1817 and 1819 (between 1818 and 1870, small amounts of land was transferred between Hall and neighboring counties ). The county was named in honor of Dr. Lyman Hall (1724 - 90), one of Georgia's delegates to the Continental Congress who signed the Declaration of Independence. He became the governor of Georgia in 1783.
